The information below may provide useful tips for artists seeking to undertake international working (this can be downloaded as a PDF document).

Finding locations
There are a number of websites and other sources of information from established international fellowships, residencies or placements. The following are a good starting point:
www.residency.culture.info
www.transartists.nl
www.resartis.org (worldwide network of artists residencies)

If you are a UK based artist and have already decided on a country where you would like to go but need to find contacts and networks in that country to find a placement, one of the following may be of help:

-The British Council office in that country
-The cultural attaché at the embassy for that country in the UK
-http://places.culture.info - which includes over 100 separate webpages for countries across the world, which may include some relevant organisations or networks that may be able to assist you
-http://ccp.culture.info - in Europe, there is a Cultural Contact Point in all eligible countries, and they may be able to offer some sign-posting in this area

Finding the funding

If you have chosen to go somewhere that does not offer a fellowship or bursary, then you have two choices in finding the necessary financial assistance:

-Finding somewhere in the UK that might support your plans

-Finding somewhere outside the UK that might support your plans (either in the country where you want to go or an organisation that offers international support that isn’t linked to a specific country)

The following webpages may therefore be of help for artists seeking to undertake international fellowships, residencies or bursaries:

-Arts Council England – Grants for the Arts
-UK based support (or advice) see Travel funding opportunities for artists
-Non-UK based support (or advice) see Travel funding opportunities for artists
