Are you ready?
The following checklist is designed to help you do an internal audit of you or your organisation to help you decide if you are ready to get involved in international work:

Clarifying Responsibilities (which partner is responsible for which aspects of the fellowship)

Finding partners
If you are an organisation seeking to develop or support an international fellowships programme for artists, then you may be seeking to establish relationships with other bodies – funding bodies, hosts and/or managing agencies – in other countries.

The countries or places with whom you wish to develop such links are likely to be already chosen, on the basis of, for example:

-Existing commitments or links to other countries or places which your organisation has already established
-The existing commitments or links of other organisations to whom you relate – e.g. town twinning links, or other commitments of your own city or regional key agencies (e.g. to do with export)
In these cases, you will need to follow up the existing contacts to see if they can help you identify the bodies who might work with you in respect of your new fellowship programme – as funding bodies, hosts or managing agencies.

If you are starting from scratch to find new international contacts and artists, then the routes identified below are likely to be useful:

-The British Council office in that country
-The cultural attaché at the embassy for that country in the UK
-http://places.culture.info - which includes over 100 separate webpages for countries across the world, which may include some relevant organisations or networks that may be able to assist you
-http://ccp.culture.info - in Europe, there is a Cultural Contact Point in each country, and they may be able to offer some sign-posting in this area
Selecting artists
Download the attached Selecting Artists document which provides guidance in this area and also provides some examples of nomination or submission procedures used by other bodies in similar circumstances.
